Painting Exhibition — International Contemporary Painting Series

Curatorial / Institutional Overview

This painting series by Eduardo Romaguera constitutes an independent body of work within his broader artistic practice, centered on colour as an autonomous generative force. Rather than representing external realities, the series explores how colour, through its internal dynamics, gives rise to expanding forms, spatial tensions, and emergent structures during the act of creation itself.

Working primarily in oil, Romaguera approaches painting as a living system in which chromatic relationships unfold intuitively, generating visual architectures that are neither predesigned nor illustrative. Form arises from colour, not as a consequence but as an event—each work embodying a moment of equilibrium between control and openness, gesture and structure.

This series has been presented internationally in institutional, academic, and cultural contexts, including the University of Strasbourg, the Palais des Arts in Marseille—within the framework of Marseille as European Capital of Culture—and under the auspices of the Consulate of Spain in Marseille, representing contemporary Spanish artistic practice abroad. Additional exhibitions have taken place in Jaipur (India), Amsterdam, and Valencia, among other locations.

The project has also received international critical visibility, notably being featured on the cover of Ciencia Ergo Sum, the academic and cultural journal of the Autonomous University of Mexico, reflecting the series’ resonance within broader intellectual and interdisciplinary discourse.

Although distinct from Romaguera’s urban and city-based projects, this series shares a common artistic language rooted in process, rhythm, and perceptual research. It articulates painting as a field of expansion—where colour operates simultaneously as material, structure, and meaning.

Exhibited in galleries such as Galerie Andiamo (Marseille) and other international venues, the series continues to function as an open curatorial project. The works remain available for future exhibitions, institutional programming, biennials, and curated contexts, offering a flexible and evolving framework for contemporary painting discourse.
