CITY LIGHT — Contemporary Urban Painting

CITY LIGHT — Contemporary Urban Painting

CITY LIGHT is a contemporary painting series by Eduardo Romaguera that investigates the city as a living, perceptual system shaped by movement, light, and emotional intensity. Rather than depicting urban space as a fixed landscape, the series approaches the city as a fluctuating structure—fragmented, rhythmic, and constantly reconfigured by human presence.

Through both large-scale and small-format works, Romaguera translates architectural forms, traffic flows, and luminous urban atmospheres into expressive painterly compositions. Colour operates not as decoration but as a structural force, articulating spatial tension, velocity, and psychological depth. Gesture and line function as traces of movement, capturing the unstable equilibrium between order and disruption inherent to contemporary metropolitan life.

CITY LIGHT situates itself at the intersection of abstraction and figuration, where recognisable urban elements dissolve into dynamic visual systems. The series reflects on the sensory overload of modern cities while preserving moments of intimacy and contemplation within the urban experience.

Conceived as an evolving body of work, CITY LIGHT forms part of Romaguera’s broader research into perception, space, and the emotional architecture of contemporary environments.
